District level meetings on vaccination, election held

Snpt/Kpi/CCpur, January 24 2022: Senapati district administration organised a district level meeting on vaccination, election and Covid-19 situation on Monday at DRDA Hall.

Speaking at the meeting, deputy commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari stressed that every individual must complete the process of vaccination to protect own family and relatives.

He said that vaccination will be made available soon in a home delivery system along with declaring that vaccination camp anywhere will be encouraged and provided with the incentives after approaching the CMO.

He appealed the DLOs to convince all the employees to get vaccinated at the earliest and advised Transport Office and Town Committee to ensuring adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour while travelling.

The DC also highlighted various ongoing development projects in the district such as Jal Jeevan Mission, National Highway Project including Maram-Peren road and Tadubi-Ukhrul road, and street lighting in the HQ.

Agriculture director N Gojendro Singh suggested that the factor for low vaccination in the district should be figured out and make necessary planning for more vaccination while MAHUD commissioner M Joy Singh said that the district's stakeholders and leader of various organisation should encourage the public to go for vaccination so as to improve the rate of inoculation on or before February 10 .

SDO Senapati S Lunguiba Thangal also briefed on the broad guidelines for conduct of the assembly election amid the prevailing Covid-19 situation while both the SP and the ASP appealed to the members present to cooperate for ensuing free and fair election.

The meeting was also attended by DLOs, NPO, SDSA, SDWA and other CSOs.

On the other hand commissioner (works) T Ranjit Singh on Monday chaired a meeting on action plans to enhance the number of Covid-19 vaccinated population at the conference hall of Kangpokpi deputy commissioner.

District Administration Kangpokpi is planning to fully vaccinate all the remaining and eligible population of the district by February 10 for which commissioner T Ranjit and additional secretary Mercina Panmei have been entrusted to oversee the vaccination programme in Kangpokpi district.

Addressing the meeting, Kangpokpi DC Kengoo Zuringla sought the cooperation of medical officials, stakeholders, including church leaders, CSOs among others to help the administration in making the vaccination programme a success.

The targetted population for vaccination in Kangpokpi district as per the 2011 Census is 95,223, out of which 48.5 percent population has been vaccinated so far, the DC said quoted report of the Health Department.

The remaining unvaccinated population is being targeted for vaccination by February 10, she added.

The meeting was attended by district officials, including SP Amrita Sinha, SDOs, chief medical officer, chief executive officer, zonal education officer, chairman Pastor Fellowship Kangpokpi, chairman Kangpokpi Town Committee and district information officer.

In Churachandpur, the district administration organised a one-day Covid vaccination advocacy programme at DTC Hall, Tuibong on Monday to evaluate the knowledge, attitude and practices of the masses towards Covid vaccine.

Speaking as the chief guest, PHED secretary John Tlangtinkhuma stated that one of the major challenges with vaccination has been the "Vaccine Hesitancy" and this can be solved only by way of spreading awareness about the vaccine.

He urged the church leaders, community leaders, chiefs and CSO leaders present to help the government in providing accurate scientific information about the vaccine and explain to the villagers why it is important in the fight against the pandemic.

Highlighting the achievements of the district in relation to Covid vaccination campaign, additional DC (Development) Khaikhopau Ngaihte stated that the administration will now focus on 'vaccine hesitant areas' to improve vaccination percentage of the district.

He also stated that out of 1.91 lakh eligible persons 60 percent of the beneficiaries has been administered the vaccine dose.

Additional secretary for Relief and Disaster Management Lalramsang Infimate, CMO Dr VC Pau, DIO (Immunisation) Dr Paulunmang Vaiphei and DLOs, representatives from churches and CSOs, chiefs from different villages and officials from health department also attended the event, during which an interaction session was held and participants raised and shared their concerns.
