50 from CAU among 418 fresh cases

Imphal, January 24 2022:
At least 50 positive cases have been detected at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal in the last 24 hours as the state reported 418 fresh cases of Covid-19 and two deaths on Monday.
Sources said that new positive cases are being at CAU Imphal for the past few days.
Monday reported a daily positivity rate of 18.09 per cent with 2311 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Sunday had a daily positivity rate of 16.35 per cent.
The TPR remains double digit for the last nine days with January 21 reporting the highest at 19.34 per cent.
The death toll reached 2027 with two fatalities reported on Monday.
They were residents of Kakching and Senapati districts.
One of them had received second dose of Covid vaccine.
So far, the virus has claimed 151 vaccinated people including 31 who had received the second dose.
While 333 patients were discharged from home isolation (192), RIMS (4), JNIMS (4) and CCCs (133) in the last 24 hours along with 46 already discharged cases updated on Monday, the active caseload rose to 3450 out of which 1146 (33.22 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 254 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 164 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only two did not report any fresh Covid cases on Monday.
So far, the state has recorded 1,01,090 positive cases and 1653 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 4702 new positive cases and 25 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities also rose to 2997 and 12 respectively.
According to official reports, the 418 fresh cases reported on Monday included 403 persons (219 male & 184 female) from among the general population and 15 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (23), JNIMS (98) and other testing centres (297) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (72), Imphal West (235), Thoubal (19), Bishnupur (18), Kakching (8), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (4), Jiribam (3), Ukhrul (5), Tamenglong (4), Tengnoupal (6), Senapati (7), Chandel (7) and Churachandpur (14) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 130,490 (general population - 1,25,607 and CAPF personnel - 4,883).Number of recovered cases is 1,25,013 (general population - 1,20,471 and CAPF personnel - 4,542) and number of active cases is 3450 (general population - 3116 and CAPF personnel - 334).The recovery rate has come down to 95.80 per cent.
A total of 374 D-type and 69 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 1010 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,88,623 out of which 10,32,925 have received second doses and 15,289 had precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (46,169), Imphal East (28,858), Thoubal (9697), Churachandpur (10,692), Kangpokpi (2983), Tamenglong (3316), Bishnupur (9401), Senapati (2344), Ukhrul (3100), Kakching (6596), Chandel (2547), Noney (1109), Tengnoupal (1119), Jiribam (1092), Kamjong (1002) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (679), Imphal East (485), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (46), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 42,053 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 28,222 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,87,251 tests per million population against the national average of 5,11,715 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2311 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 18.09 per cent while the cumulative positivity rose to 8.63 per cent.
