R-Day full dress rehearsal held

Imphal, January 24 2022:
Ahead of the celebration of Republic Day-2022, a full dress parade rehearsal was held on Monday morning.
The rehearsal parade commenced from 1st MR parade ground and culminated at the starting point from the saluting base inside Kangla Fort.
Altogether, 17 contingents will be taking part in the March Past on Republic Day.
The ceremonial parade/functions in the morning of January 26 will be held here and all district and sub-divisional headquarters.
However, celebrations will be scaled down in view of the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, as well as the upcoming State Assembly Election, 2022 .
Governor La Ganesan, who will attend the function as chief guest, will take the salute at Kangla whereas chief minister N Biren Singh will address the vote of thanks at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles Parade Ground.
9th IRB CO Kh Sarma Devi will be the parade commander this year.
It may be mentioned that there will be no reception programme at Raj Bhavan on January 26 afternoon, and cultural programme and Beating the Retreat on January 27 due to the Covid pandemic.
Covid Appropriate Behaviour viz greeting without physical contact, wearing of face mask, wearing of hand glove, maintaining social distancing and avoid crowding will also be maintained during the celebration.
In connection with the celebration on January 26, the office of the Traffic Control Police Wing has already issued a notification enforcing traffic diversions along various major roads in Imphal for smooth celebration of Republic Day and in public interest.
