NRFM cadre netted with hand grenades

Imphal, January 24 2022:
Ahead of the Republic Day celebration, a combined team of Imphal East district commando and 15 Assam Rifles arrested a cadre of NRFM, who is believed to be involved in many bomb blast incidents, along with two hand grenades on Monday.
The arrested cadre has been identified as Haorungbam Yohenba Meitei alias Tamo alias John (31) son of Sunil Meitei of Chalou Mayai Leikai.
Parading the arrested cadre before the media, SP Imphal East M Pradip informed that Yohenba was arrested during a frisking operation conducted by the combined team led by Commando OC Inspector Kh Henry and Heingang PS OC Kh Pathou at Khurai Heikrumakhong area.
The SP further informed that Yohenba is a transgender who disclosed that she along with another fellow cadre Naoba, under the instruction of self-styled chairman Dhabalomacha, carried out bomb attacks at Khurai Telipati, at a pharmacy shop in Khurai Lamlong and Kairang Muslim areas.
They also issued a demand note of Rs 10 lakh to a pharmacy shop located near the gate of Sawombung PHC and the combined team had recovered the demand note from the pharmacy shop.
Yohenba also disclosed that they hid two hand grenades near Ima Pidonnu Laishang at Pidonnu Ching and the combined team recovered the grenades.
A case has been registered at Heingang PS and Yohenba remanded to police custody for five days.
On the other hand, another team of Imphal West district commando led by OC Inspector P Achouba carried out search operation in Kakhulong, Masjid Road and Paona Keithel areas as part of the security arrangement for the upcoming Republic Day celebration.
No arrest or detention were made during the operation.
