Kakching, January 24 2022:
The allegations levelled by workers 'hired' by Kakching AC Mayanglambam Rameshwar against ex-MLA Yengkhom Surchandra are not only false and baseless but also anti-people, stated Yengkhom Joykumar, convenor of Y Surchandra's Election Steering Committee.
Addressing a press meet at the residence of the ex-MLA in Kakching Turel Wangma on Monday afternoon, Y Joykumar said that Surchandra, who was elected for 3 terms consecutively, has been working selflessly to make Kakching AC one of the most famed constituencies in the state.
Surchandra never had a court case filed against him.
However, M Rameshwar himself filed an application and case against the ex-MLA to prevent him from getting BJP's ticket and scam the people in the process.
Such baseless allegations without any proof or evidence will only invite a defamation suit, the convenor cautioned.
Joykumar then urged the people not to believe the lies being spewed by a madman who was humiliated by his own inability to ensure the attendance of 400/500 people in a programme attended by BJP national president JP Nadda, CM N Biren and other ministers in Kakching.
Stating that Kakching won the first prize for being the cleanest city in Northeast region twice due to the development works undertaken by Y Surchandra, the convenor recounted that BJP recorded the biggest BJP membership enrolment.
This led BJP to win the highest number of votes in Kakching in the outer MP election in 2019 .
Furthermore, the public rally taken out in support of Y Surchandra on January 3 was the biggest ever in Kakching.
This clearly indicates that the people of Kakching have always and will continue to support the ex-MLA.
Thus, the convenor appealed to the people not to believe in the rumours which is being circulated at the moment.
