Vehicles to be barred from entering Imphal bazar

In a move to lessen the problems faced by the people on account of increasing traffic volume in the market places of Imphal city, the Transport department is all set to prohibit motor vehicles from entering Imphal bazaar area.
According to reports received from the Transport department, a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary of Transport department discussed in detail the problems faced by the people due to large traffic volume in the market places Imphal city.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Transport Director and the DSP of Traffic Police decided to bring out a comprehensive plan to curb the traffic related problems.
It also decided that since the Assembly Complex has been shifted at the Capitol Project, the Assembly road which had remained closed to public will be opened from February 10 next.
With the opening of this road the traffic volume in Paona Bazaar, Thangal Bazaar, BT road and MG Avenue will be reduced, the report added.
