MACSEA organizes rally against violation of rights

Manipur State AIDS Control Society Employees' Association (MACSEA) and representatives of several NGOs today took out a rally to submit a 7-point charter of demands in condemnation of alleged violation of rights of Manipur State AIDS Control Society employees to the Chief Minister.
The aggrieved employees were proceeding towards the Chief Minister's bungalow when they were stopped by the police near the oil pump at Moirangkhom.
After a brief confrontation, some select representatives of the protestors were allowed to go and submit the memorandum to the Secretary of Chief Minister.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest rally, Mongjam Abhiram, president of MACSEA, said that they have launched the cease work strike in solidarity to the call of All India AIDS Control Employees' Association for a nationwide strike from January 30 and in condemnation of the changes in pay structure for employees of MACS following an order issued on January 9 .
The demands of the protestors include regularization of employees under DAC (NACO, MACS and its units); availing of Central Government benefits like PF/DA, Maternity Leave, Risk Allowance etc; implementation of revised salary from April 2012 as NACP-III phase was finished on April 2012; inclusion of members of the association in policy making programme among others.
