Imphal, December 16 2014:
The Sekmai Nongthonband Youth Club has threatened to close the IVR road leading to IOC's Sekmai LPG bottling plant from January 1 in case the repairing work of the approach road is not started within the current month.
Showing the pathetic condition of the road to a team of media persons today, the club's secretary Khwairak-pam Dhananjoy said that the road has not been repaired ever since it was black topped in 2002 before the LPG bottling plant was commissioned.
Yet, heavy trucks laden with LPG have been moving on the dilapidated road every day which is indirectly posing health hazards to people of the locality.
The youth club closed the road twice in May this year.
The road was opened to traffic after Chief Minister O Ibobi assured the club functionaries in presence of local MLA Kh Devendro that the road would be repaired within the month of November, Dhananjoy reminded.
Although it is mid-December there is no sign of initiating the repairing work.
As such, the local club decided to close the road once again, Dhananjoy said.
