Imphal, February 04 2014:
A Cabinet meeting held this evening with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair decided to table Lok Ayukta Bill 2014 in the State Assembly during the forthcoming session which starts from February 24 .
The Cabinet meeting which started at 3 pm continued till 7 pm.
However, with the Government's spokesperson being presently out of station, media persons found a hard time trying to elicit information about the Cabinet meeting.
Soon after the meeting, most of the Ministers went inside their quarters leaving many reporters in an embarrasing situation.
Some Ministers maintained they came out before the meeting was over and as such they did not have full knowledge of what transpired at the meeting.
After the UPA Government passed the Lokpal Bill, the Cabinet decided to table a new Lok Ayukta Bill 2014 in the State Assembly in place of its 2011 version.
As there was no media briefing after the Cabinet meeting, it is not clear as to why a new Bill should replace an already existing one.
The State Cabinet decided to re-organise Law Department in addition to setting up new police stations at Tolloi, Ukhrul district and Vangai range, Churachandpur district.
It further agreed to set up fire service sub-stations at Saikul, Noney, Tadubi and Yairipok apart from opening police outposts at Maram Centre, Thangal Surung, Chandrakhong Mayai Keithel, Serou, Uchekon Takhok Mapan and Itham Moirang Purel.
The State Cabinet also came to a broad agreement on modification of recruitment rules for MCS and IPS.
