Imphal, September 14 2014:
The 43rd foundation day of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) was celebrated today with Heads of Departments, senior Professors and key officials of the institution.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that deceiving oneself is the greatest lie.
The history of RIMS is not just 43 years.
There have been many vicissitudes before RIMS attained its present status.
Leaving out Assam, RIMS is one medical institution which has been making maximum contribution to medical science among the North Eastern States.

Teachers teaching at RIMS and doctors who passed out from it have been appreciated across the country.
But what is most important is integrity, said the Deputy Chief Minister.
If one has integrity, honesty and perseverance, one would always emerge victorious in all their endeavours, Gaikhangam stated.
Nowadays, whether one is keeping one's own words or not has become a big question.
Self-deception is the greatest lie.
If there is exact compatibility between what one says and what one does, Manipur would have been a much better place.
MBBS is a difficult course and many MBBS students end up without completing the course.
It is a matter of pride for the whole State that RIMS has won the confidence of many MBBS students belonging to different North Eastern States and other parts of the country.
It is the responsibility of the State's citizens to ensure that all the students coming from outside the State can pursue their medical course here under a secure and peaceful environment.
"But imposing curfew against non-local people was undesirable but thankfully student organisations have lifted the curfew", Gaikhangam remarked.
In his presidential speech, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing appealed to the medical fraternity for effective and smooth coordination in order to alleviate RIMS to a higher status.
Prof W Gopimohon of Surgery Department, former Head, Department of Paediatrics Prof L Brajamohon, RIMS Reception Committee chairman Prof Ng Brajachand, RIMS Director in-charge Prof Ch Arunkumar and Medical Superintendent Prof Amuba were also seated on the dais.
