Imphal, February 07 2015 :
Expressing amazement over Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam's claim that 60 per cent of the plan amount has been utilized which contradicted earlier report of utilizing just 29 per cent, BJP Manipur Pradesh has deman-ded a white paper about the funds utilized so far.
A mega membership campaign was held today at Kala- pahar community hall under the aegis of BJP Kangpokpi Mandal.
Speaking at the gathering, BJP vision document chairman Dr RK Ranjan alleged that the State Government has failed miserably in utilizing funds sanctioned by the Government of India for taking up different development projects in the State.
It was hardly one week ago when the State Government conceded that only 29 per cent of the plan amount has been utilized but Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam is claiming that 60 per cent of the plan amount has been already utilized.
These contradictory claims indicated that huge amounts of public money have gone to the pockets of some influential people.
With people belonging to different faiths making beelines to join BJP, it has been proven that the party is secular in principle and character, claimed Dr Ranjan.
Only BJP can establish a Government which can bring rapid development in Manipur.
Noting that the Nepali community of Manipur has been taking active roles in the State's administration, Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that Kalapahar Gram Panchayat which has been dissolved would be revived and a fresh election would be held in case BJP comes to power after the next State Assembly election.
BJP Minority Cell secretary Khadga Tamang said that they have set a target of enrolling not less than 6000 people during the ongoing membership campaign.
Maximum efforts would be invested to ensure that not less than 10,000 voters of Kangpokpi A/C are enrolled in BJP by March 31 .
After the State Government dissolved four Gram Panchayats where Nepali community is concentrated, people of these areas have not been getting any benefits of all the flagship programmes such as NREGS.
Even though the Government of India has been approached to revive the dissolved Gram Panchayats, no response has been forthcoming till date, Khadga Tamang decried.
A similar membership enrolment campaign was held today at Ramji Kabui village under the aegis of BJP Patsoi Mandal.
