Joint meeting on ILPS held

A joint meeting of the representatives of different political parties, members of All Manipur Bar Association, High Court Bar Association and intellectuals was held at the office chamber of Chief Minister O Ibobi today morning before he left for New Delhi regarding the preparation of a draft Bill or a law similar to ILPS, which would protect the indigenous people and their land, tradition and culture.
Speaking to media persons, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also the Chairman of the All Political Parties Committee on ILPS said that the meeting not only discussed the recommendations made by different intellectuals but also the proposed draft Bill ahead of the State Assembly election commencing February 25 .
He said that the next meeting would be held after the Chief Minister returns to Imphal.
Wider discussions would be held with different sections of the society as well, he added.
The Bill would be introduced according to the outcome of the consultations and meetings with the approval of the State Cabinet, he added.
