The Manipur Hills and Plain Contractors' Association has decided to submit their dud cheques to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister and all contractors have been asked to submit their cheques which could not be encashed to the association by October 12.This decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the association held today, said a statement and urged all contractors to abide by the decision to suspend their ongoing work for the time being until a solution is worked out.
The contractors also expressed grave reservations over the police action against them while they were agitating at PWD office gate today.
Contractors told the media that they were stopped by the police from debarring employees of the PWD from entering the office at 11.30 am.
The contractors were merely protesting the lack of work culture among so-me of the employees they said adding that the action of the police amounts to the Govt endorsing unpunctuality among the employees.
