Imphal, October 04:
This sounds like a cruel joke, but no, this is not a joke.
The Govt has asked the oil pumps to sell fuel to the consumers on ration basis tomorrow, but the only hitch is, all the pumps are dry with not a single oil tanker depositing fuel there for the last many days.
The petrol pumps which have been asked to open tomorrow amid the North East general strike called by NESO are, Imo Filling Station, Singjamei; Krishna Premi Oil City, Moirangkhom; Tucks and Bonds, Hatta; PCTC, Khoyathong; Khurai Service Centre, Khurai; K Nilo Service, Lamshang and Imphal Oil Agency, Chingmeirong.
The Govt has also asked the Bakliwal Enterprises at AOC to sell diesel tomorrow.
According to the rationing system (petrol), two wheelers will be allotted two litres, three litres for three wheelers and five litres for four wheelers.
For diesel the quota is 25 litres for each truck.
The decision to sell fuel to the consumers on a rationing basis was taken during a meeting attended by the FCS Commissioner and DCs and SPs of Imphal East and West on October 2.However despite the Govt's order, none of the pumps have received any fuel from the Oil Depot at Chingmeirong.
Fuel scarcity started hitting the State after oil tanker drivers decided not to take the wheel after one driver was abducted by the KRA near Khatkhatti in Assam last month.
