Imphal, November 29 2021:
The directorate of medical and health services has decided to allow state domiciles, who have cleared the NEET UG 20231, to attend counselling for MBBS seats in the state.
A statement issued by health services director Dr K Rajo on Monday informed that the directorate published the list of NEET UG 2021 qualified candidates on November 26 based on the Applied State (APPSTATE_N) mentioned in the NEET UG result declared by NTA on November 1 .
The APPSTATE_N is the only criteria where the directorate can sort out the list of candidates for Manipur from the data furnished by NTA.
As reported by some of the guardians, the field for domicile was missing in the prescribed online application form for NEET UG 2021.As such, NTA might have picked up the state of passing 10+2 exam (instead of domicile state) as APPSTATE_N and names of some candidates, who are not included in the Manipur State list are, included in other states.
Till date more than 30 such candidates have reported to the directorate.
On enquiry it is found that their names are in the respective states from where they completed 10+2 exam.
On November 27, NTA issued a public notice, which clarified that: "The role of NTA is to conduct the examination and declare the result based on eligibility criteria provided by National Medical Commission.
Candidates submitted their category as per National Category List and based on the same result has been declared.
NTA has provided All India rank to the candidates and admitting authorities will draw a merit list based on All India rank for the seats of MBBS/ BDS falling under their jurisdiction.
When candidates apply to their state, they will mention their category as per state category list.
State Counselling Authorities will accordingly make their merit list.
The same is the case with the domicile.
The NTA has no role in it and no change in any data will be made by NTA".
The qualified candidates have to further complete the formalities with the respective counselling authorities such as DGHS, medical education directorates of states among others for admission to MBBS/BDS courses, the public notice of NTA added.
Based on the public notice of NTA, the directorate has extended the last date for submission of application form for counselling for one week from the date of issuance of notification for extension.
It has also approved inclusion of all candidates who applied to the directorate for counselling if they are domiciles of the state and have cleared NEET UG 2021.A list of eligible candidates for counselling for selection of candidates for admission into MBBS/BDS/BASLP 2021 shall be drawn and notified based on All India Rank among all the candidate applied for counselling.
It also informed that the list of NEET UG 2021 qualified candidates for the state issued on November 26 stands withdrawn and cancelled.
