Covid vaccination drive in Saitu AC expanded

As part of the containment measures in Saitu AC, MLA Ngamthang Haokip, who is also an advisor to CM, launched COVID vaccination drive for people aged 45 and above in his assembly constituency at PHC Motbung on Friday.
Earlier, COVID vaccine doses in respect of Saitu AC were administered at PHC Motbung and PHC Gamphazol.
However, with the initiative of the local MLA and the launching of COVID vaccination drive for people in the age group of 45 and above on Friday, the vaccination will now be done at all Health and Wellness Centres and PHSCs with an aim to reach out to all the denizens of Saitu AC.
MLA Ngamthang was the chief guest of the launch programme while CMO in-charge of Kangpokpi District Hospital Dr J Touthang and Kangpokpi ZEO Lhingneikim were present as functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Also, in attendance were SDOs of Saitu Gamphazol, Bungte Chiru and Kangchup Geljang, chief of Motbung, COVID Task Force Motbung, officials and health workers of the medical department.
Addressing the gathering, the local MLA allayed public fear regarding efficacy of the COVID vaccine and asked the people of Saitu AC not to believe in rumours being spread on social media against the vaccine.
Ngamthang Haokip said that he took up the initiative of carrying out the vaccination drive across all health & wellness centres and PHSCs out of concern for the villagers living in far flung area and to enable all the people in his constituency to avail the benefit (vaccination) without any hindrance.
The local MLA also urged the people to join hands in the fight against the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and make Saitu AC the first corona-free constituency in the state.
Ngamthang also handed over 200 oximeters, three each of D-type and B-type oxygen cylinders, two oxygen concentrators, PPE kits, face masks, sanitizers, gloves, medicines and others to the health care centres in Saitu AC.
Following the launch of COVID vaccination programme for people aged 45 and above, SDO Saitu Block Dr Johnson, PHC Gamphazol senior MO in-charge Dr J Haokip and Motbung PHC MO in-chagre Dr Jamkhochon were assigned duties of overall in-charge and coordinator of the vaccination programme.
According to the vaccination schedule prepared by the medical team, the jabbing will begin on May 31 in Saitu Gamphazol Block at Health and Wellness Centres (HWC) and PHSCs.
The vaccination will be done at HWC Leimakhong on every Monday, PHSC Kotlen on every Tuesday, PHSC Wainem on every Thursday and HWC Kangchup on every Saturday.
