V&AH Director assures help to PLHAs

Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Director Dr.Th.Jeevan Singh has praised the efforts of the organisers and assured to accomodate more PLHAs as beneficiaries of the department on the concluding day of farmers training programme for PLHAs and widows here today.
Dr.Singh, who attended the closing programme as chief guest at Tangkhul Theological Association hall, said that the department will make an effort to extend help to the PLHAs women and widows.
He also praised the organisers for conducting such training programme.
Elaborating on ways to extend help to PLHAs in Ukhrul, he stated that the department will urge the Autonomous District Council to include the Joint Director of District Veterinary Office in the selection of beneficiaries so that more PLHAs would avail the benefits.
Following the devolution of power to ADCs, it was informed that the beneficiary selection of various district departments have been delegated to the former.
Dr.Singh assured that he would personally appeal to the ADCs and expressed hopel that they would accept it.
The three-day training was organised jointly by District Veterinary Office and Indigenous Mothers Association (IMA) .
In today's programme, District Nodal Officer (ART Centre, Ukhrul) Dr.Nelson graced as the president and spoke to encourage the PLHAs.
He asked "participants" to be "positive in their attitude and thinking" to live a normal life.
He also advised on the use of terminology like "PLWHAs" instead of addressing HIV positive persons.
District Veterinary Office Joint Director Dr.Th.Debendra K Singh delivered the keynote address, while veterinary officer Dr.Ngahorshai Luithui gave the welcome address.
The organisers also gave away certificates to the participants.
