Imphal, July 20 2012:
The Senapati District Consumer's Club has strongly refuted the allegation raised by the district's CAF and PD Department.
Terming the allegation as false and an attempt to foil its initiatives to dig out the truth in connection with the siphoning off of PDS/FCS items, SDCC in a statement today asserted that the CAF and PD Department, Senapati has crossed all limits by falsely accusing the Club of serving a monetary demand of Rs 2 lakh.
SDCC only approached the Department to voluntarily contribute to the Club for organising consumers' awareness programmes for the benefit of the people of the district, said the statement.
On the advice of an official of CAF and PD, the Club officials met the Assistant Director of CAF and PD, Senapati on December 11, last year to seek assistance.
After the Assistant Director advised the Club members to submit a written proposal for organising awareness programmes, SDCC submitted a proposal for a sum of Rs 2 lakhs which has not been granted till date, said the statement.
Instead, the Department has accused the SDCC of serving monetary demand, which is false, asserted the statement.
The Deputy Commissioner has a moral responsibility to deliver justice to the people of the district, said SDCC and added that the officer cannot remain indifferent to the things happening under him.
