Four die in road accident in Tamenglong

Imphal, July 20 2012:
At least four persons including two have been killed while others sustained injuries when a Tata Sumo in which they were travelling slid down a steep hill slope between Khongsang and Irang along NH-37 in Tamenglong district this morning.
A police source informed that the Tata Sumo (MN-01K/8779) carrying passengers from Tamenglong went out of control due to a mechanical failure and hit a tree before sliding down the steep hill slope at about 9 am.
While two persons were killed on the spot, two others died on the way to the nearest health centre.
The two who were killed on the spot have been identified as Phillip Golmei (25) s/o Makubampou of Namkaolong Part I and Anand of Thoubal.
Anand was said to be driver of the ill-fated Tata Sumo.
Of the two women victims, one was reported to pregnant and she has been identified as Rangchailiu Daimei (23) w/o Winangpou.
The other victim was one Wimangchungliu (41) w/o Weavy of Tharon village.
While most of the injured victims were admitted in Tamenglong district hospital, two were brought to RIMS.
Out of the two, one has been referred to Shija Hospitals.
