Excess students in TG to be admitted to Ramlal Paul

Imphal, June 14 2013 : With more than 2051 students seeking admission in TG Higher Secondary School which has an intake capacity of just 700 students for the current academic session, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has announced that all those who could not get admitted in TG Higher Secondary School would be admitted in Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School.

Addressing media persons at his office chamber in Imphal Secretariat here today, Minister Okendro informed that a decision to this effect was taken during a high level meeting held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair.

The meeting also resolved to take only girl students in class XI Science in Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, apart from inaugurating a 100-capacity hostel for girls in the School.

He further informed that the seat capacity in the eight Government Higher Secondary Schools in Imphal, namely Johnstone Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School, TG Higher Secondary School, Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School and Ramlal Paul Higher Secondary School are 2000 in Science stream, 1500 in Arts stream and 605 in Commerce stream, thus, 4105 seats in total.

However, the numbers of students applying for admission in these schools are 3740 in Science stream, 1275 in Arts stream and 166 in Commerce stream.

The Minister also appealed to the students not to get discouraged even though they failed to get admitted to either in TG or CC Higher Secondary School.

All the Higher Secondary Schools in Imphal city would be developed equally along with posting qualified teachers and looking after the required infrastructures.

Other Higher Secondary Schools in different parts of the State would also be looked into equally, he added. He further informed that a common admission form would be issued to the admission seeking students from the next academic session whereby all students will be equally distributed in all the Government Higher Secondary Schools.

The students should have faith in the measures being taken up by the Government and help in bringing about a self reliant State in the field of education, the Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Education Minister clarified that no decision has been taken by the State Cabinet to do away with the earlier decision of excluding Additional English from the syllabus of class IX and X .
