Lizard rescued from Kongba

People for Animal, Thoubal today rescued a displaced Bengal Monitor Lizard from Kongba Nongthombam Leikai.
According to a statement, Moirangthem Daneshwar Singh, executive member of Kongba Youth Organisation informed PFA Thoubal that a displaced Bengal Monitor Lizard was handed over to the club.
The PFA team immediately rushed to the spot and took the lizard in their custody.
The reptile was rescued by a young boy, Moirangthem Meipaksana Singh of Kongba Nongthombam Leikai.
He told PFA that the reptile was seen since two days back wandering among the houses.
On June 13, he found it under his bed.
He caught it and handed over to the local club.
Many approached him to kill the lizard but Meipaksana and club members strongly protected the lizard from doing so.
The lizard listed in schedule 1 might have wandered out from Nongmaiching Hillock.
PFA along with Meipaksana and club member would release it with the advice of wildlife department, the PFA statement said.
