Imphal, January 28 2015:
State unit Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president M Tombi has informed that a fact finding report on the existing of Imphal-Jiribam road and other unwanted incidents taking place along the National Highways would be submitted to the three Union Ministers who are scheduled to visit Manipur in February next.
Talking to mediapersons at the Babupara office of the party here on Wednesday, Tombi pointed out that various incidents of crime like harassment of passengers, kidnapping or killing of drivers and extortion are taking place along the National Highways passing through the State.
Recently, one Brojen who was driving a Maruti van was beaten up by some people.
Another driver identified as Md Yunus Khan has been held captive.
While such incidents of harassment are more frequent along Imphal-Dimapur Road, the condition of Imphal-Jiribam Road has only gone from bad to worst from long years of negligence.
All these points would be highlighted in the report to be submitted to three Union Ministers when they come to visit Manipur in February, Tombi said.
