Two killed, 3 hurt in encounter

Imphal, January 28 2015:
At least two suspected KNF militants have been killed and three others injured in an alleged encounter with troops of 8 AR at Kadangband a few metres away from Kadangband Bridge toward Kadangband village, Imphal West district under Lamsang police station at around 7.30 pm today.
All the three injured suspected KNF cadres are undergoing treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, informed a source.
The alleged encounter between Assam Rifles troops posted at Kangchup and suspected underground militants took place a few metres away from the Kangchup post of 8 AR at around 7.30 pm and the gun fight lasted for around 10 minutes.

After the exchange of fire ceased, three suspected underground cadres were found dead at the encounter site.
Another source informed that troops of 8 Assam Rifle who were patrolling the area on foot were attacked by suspected KNF cadres who came in a Bolero jeep when the patrol party reached Kadangband bridge.
The AR troops retaliated killing at least two militants while three others received bullet injuries.
All the three injured militants were rushed to RIMS by the Assam Rifles team.
The three injured persons have been identified as Helen Kuki (30) s/o Chongsat of Sapermeina (he received multiple bullet injuries on the right calf, hand and buttock), Satmamang Kuki (23) s/o Thanglun of Keithelmanbi BM Road (he received bullet injuries on the right hand and foot) and Thangkholin Kuki (25) s/o Thangzamang of Leimakhong (he also received multiple bullet injuries on his left shoulder, left hand, right knee and right hand).
All of them are undergoing treatment in serious conditions.
Assam Rifle personnel who came to RIMS hospital refused to give any information about the incident.
A team of Manipur police led by RK Saklemba SDPO Lamphel arrived at RIMS casualty ward and inspected the three injured suspected KNF cadres.
