Naga parliamentarians honour Rishang

Imphal, September 15 2012:
Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur Rishang Keishing, who was also the Chief Minister of the state, was honoured with 'Outstanding Achievement Award' by Naga Parliamentarians Forum, Manipur during a function at Tribal Research Institute (TRI) here today.
Ministers, MLAs, ex-MPs, former MLAs and public leaders hailing from Naga community attended the programme.
All the speakers including Ministers and MLAs in the function showered praises on the Rajya Sabha MP.
Home Minister Gaikhangam said many politicians are looking up to Rishang Keishing as he is an ever mentor figure to them.
"He has been our guiding figure and we thank his late parents to have given birth to such a great person from whom many people have been benefiting," lauded Gaikhangam.
The Home Minister stated that Rishang Keishing has guided them from the 'dark to the light' .
Minister Francis Ngajokpa stressed the need for removing the various misunderstandings and starts 'maximizing our understanding among us' .
The Naga Parliamentarians Forum, Manipur also felicitated Naga Ministers and MLAs in the function.
It can be noted here that Naga Parliamentarians Forum, Manipur (NPFM) was formed to strive for the peaceful co-existence with all communities.
According to the Forum, if calls upon, it shall offer its service in finding an amicable solution to the long standing Naga political issue.
The NPFM said it shall also work to promote the rich and cultural heritage of the Naga people.
Another objective of the NPFM said the Forum shall not act as a political party.
"However, it shall encourage its members to stand up for the democratic rights of the Naga people through his or her political party," it added.
