Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM) car rally

In connection with the proposed car rally from Kolkata to Yunan in China which is aimed at fostering closer ties among Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM), the Chief Secretary convened an official meeting today.
The car rally would be flagged off from Kolkata on February 21, 2013 and pass through Bangladesh, Silchar, Imphal, Moreh and Myanmar before winding up at Kunming, China.
Today's meeting discussed about the Manipur leg of the rally.
The meeting also deliberated on the ASEAN car rally which would start from Indonesia and end at Guwahati.
During the meeting, Works Department was asked to co-ordinate with BRO in developing Imphal-Jiribam highway in view of the car rally which would pass through the highway.
On the other hand, the joint monitoring committee set up in accordance to an instruction from the High Court has inspected the condition and work progress on the highway today.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Commerce and Industries Principal Secretary O Nabakishore would present a paper on border trade at an ASEAN trade logistics symposium which would be held at Bangkok.
During the symposium, frank and open discussions among representatives from ASEAN nations, India and South China would be held reflecting on the growth and current state of ASEAN market, as well as the strategic direction each ASEAN Member State should take to play its parts in the achieving the ASEAN economic integration.
