Imphal, September 15 2012:
Expressing strong disapproval over the attitude of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) in issuing the forms for Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) only from a single point at Imphal, thus, creating a whole lot of problems to aspiring candidates in far flung areas, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has called a 48-hour Manipur Bandh with effect from 5 am of September 19 .
Announcing this in a press conference here today, Mangcha Baite, Vice President of KSO, pointed out that with the state government issuing forms for TET only from Raja Dhumbra Singh School, Palace Compound, aspiring candidates from far off places of the state are having a hard time in trying to get the form.
Apart from spending lot of money while coming down to Imphal, they also have to spend a lot of unnecessary time in standing in long queues.
Some of them have to even wait for 2/3 days to get their turn for getting the form.
Considering all these problems, KSO has demanded that TET forms be made available in all the district head quarters of the state and exam centres be allotted to the respective district headquarters of the candidates.
The student body has also demanded extension of the last date for submission of TET forms by another ten days and postponement of the examination fixed on October 28, 2012 since the day coincides with the SSC exam.
The KSO has made it clear that all these demands should be met by September 18, failing which it would go ahead with the proposed 48-hour Manipur Bandh starting from 5am of September 19 .
A memorandum in this regard has also been submitted to the Education Minister.
