Telipati incident: UHST appeals for peace

Ukhrul Hindu Samaj Trust (UHST) has appealed for peaceful coexistence in the wake of the violence that erupted between two groups of people in Telipati area of Imphal on December 5 .
Briefing media persons in Ukhrul town on Wednesday, UHST general secretary Zyma Thokchom, flanked by president Nanda-kishore Rai and youth secretary Jiten Chauhan, said that the Trust is deeply concerned by the recent communal tension that occurred between two groups of people and called it the most unfortunate incident.
"In this regard, we are particularly thankful to our chief minister N Biren for his timely intervention and taking quick measures to contain the situation and restore peace.
We further appeal to all concerned to support the government in its efforts to restore peace, sanity and peaceful coexistence among the people," he said.
Zyma said that it is the earnest appeal of the Trust to all concerned not to stir up tensions but to work collectively towards ensuring peaceful coexistence of all so as to prevent recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in future.
