'Blind students facing problem'

Despite installation of a Braille Press by the Manipur Government at the Government Blind School, Takyel, students of the school are still facing many problems due to the non-functional Braille Press, said school Headmistress Y Premlata.
The headmistress made the statement during the release function of a 'Talking Text Book for Visually Impaired and Punsi Sintha Thapanlon 2016' organised by Guru Rabindranath Tagore Foundation (GRTF) Arushi, Kasturba Gandhi Institute for Development and the Welfare Association for the Blind in Manipur at Government Ideal Blind School on Sunday.
Premlata who attended the function as presidium member said that the problem of shortage of text books has been a big problem for the blind students since a long time.
Premlata also said that complaints on the shortage of text books due to the non-functional Braille press have been lodged with the head office and Social Welfare Department.
The Talking Text Book for Visually Impaired during such crucial time will help the students of class VIII, IX and X in their academic activities, added Premlata.
The function was also attended by Kasturba Gandhi Institute for Development Manipur secretary Dr O Sarita, Punsi Sintha Thapalon editor Akham Langol, IBS and Welfare Association for the Blind Manipur retired headmaster Y Brajamohon.
