Cycle rally held to spread palliative care

Imphal, September 20 2015:
With an aim to spread awareness on the need for palliative care, the Palliative Care Society, Imphal today organised a cycle rally which was flagged off from Kangla Western gate by Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratan Kumar.
The rally is set to culminate at Khangabok after conducting an awareness programme for 150 students.
During the flag-off ceremony, secretary of Palliative Care Society, Dr Jugindro said that such rally can bring awareness on palliative care.

The society has more than 60 college and school students who have joined as volunteers for the pilot programme launched to sensitise people on the need for palliative care to people suffering from terminal diseases.
Palliative care is referred to the care given to improve the quality of life of patients who have a serious or life-threatening disease or terminal illness.
The goal of palliative care is to prevent or treat, as early as possible, the symptoms and side effects of the disease and its treatment, in addition to the related psychological, social, and spiritual problems.
Palliative care is also called comfort care, supportive care, and symptom management.
