Jiri News Network (JNN), which was formed by journalists working in Jiribam subdivision in 2004 but remained non-functional since then, was revived on Sunday in a simple function chaired by the senior journalist F Ahmed.
Accordingly, a new executive body has also been formed by co-opting its membership from the journalists of the Cachar so as to make larger media coverage.
In the new executive committee, Sarat Kumar Thokchom will be the President while GC Mishra the Vice-president.
Romeo Moirangthem has been elected as General Secretary and S Herajit Singh as Asst.
Secretary of the Network.
Moirangthem Haritombi Singh will be Treasurer while F Ahmed, A Lukhoi Singh, Md Abdus Salam and Yumnam Sanjit Singh are executive members.
During the function, general secretary of JNN Romeo Moirangthem assured that the news agency will act as an information dissemination agency for the print and electronic media by collecting news from the north east Indian states where Manipuris are settled.
He added that news items will give thrust on integrity, development and current affairs.
He further informed the gathering that the email address of the agency as [email protected] through which anyone can send the worth reporting news to the agency.
Romeo also announced that news will be dispatched to the respective media houses of the state from June 1, 2014 next and sought cooperation from the media houses operating in Manipur.
