Nephrology Department of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Hospital is all set to provide uninterrupted dialysis service to kidney patients shortly, probably by February 1, 2021 .
In this regard, an order issued by the Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Prof H Priyoshakhi Devi on Thursday informed all the doctors and staff concerned to submit the result of HbsAg, HCV and R-Antibody tests of kidney patients taken before the dialysis.
It may be mentioned here that receiving dialysis treatment at private hospitals cost about Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 and depending on the severity of the ailment, some kidney patients are put on dialysis for two to four days.
Talking to The Sangai Express, RIMS Director Prof A Santa Singh stated that the hospital (RIMS) might be able to accommodate at least 30 patients who require dialysis a day.
During the peak of Covid pandemic, only about 16 such patients could be put on dialysis at the hospital, continued the Director.
The Professor also informed that 4 more doctors who are undergoing training for DM in Nephrology are now posted at the Nephrology Department, RIMS and installed 10 more dialysis machines on top of the 6 existing machines.
One dialysis machine each will also be installed at ICU and Trauma ICU of the hospital for the convenience of kidney patients requiring dialysis there, Dr Santa said.
