5th MNCA Plate Tournament : ESU, PCC, YUCC script comprehensive wins

ESU, Wangkhei; PCC, Mayaikoibi and YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai were able to notch up comfortable wins today in their respective group league matches in the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20 .
In the Group D league match staged at Langthabal Public Ground, ESU chased down NAPSA's 99 run target with no wicket lost in 12.1 overs as Herojit shone with a half century (55 off 36 balls) .
NAPSA elected to bat first after winning the toss but faltered for a paltry score of 98 runs losing all the wickets in 27.4 overs.
Rozer scored an unbeaten 24 off 44 balls for the team as Richard managed 20 off 40 balls but sadly 5 batsmen were sent off on ducks as Hemchand of ESU enjoyed a four wicket haul offering 26 runs in his spell of 8 overs which included a maiden.
Chittaranjan followed Hemchand's suit with a three wicket haul for 23 in 8 overs while Nishikanta, Nanao and Mehul picked up a wicket each.
Openers of ESU, Herojit 55 and Mehul (35 off 38 balls) then steered the team to 101 in 12.1 overs for the emphatic win.
Hemchand of ESU was named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group A league match played at Moijing playground, PCC earned their second victory of the tournament beating TCMDC by 31 runs.
TCMDC won the toss and decided to field first.
Being let to bat first, PCC rode on Ch Tyson's half century (53 off 46 balls), Th Anand Singh (44 off 50 balls) and L Gibson (43 not out off 29 balls) to post a total of 186 runs for 6 in 30 overs and then restricted TCMDC, Thongju for 155/9 in 30 overs.
Y Sheiteendra of TCMDC picked up two wickets in PCC's innings as his compatriots Th Nganthoi and Th Tulajit earned a wicket each.
In the chase, TCMDC lost both the openers on ducks but Sh Priyo hit 47 to topscore for the team.
K Kalyan and L Vivekananda added 29 and 21 runs respectively to help the team fight back for a while but disciplined bowling efforts from PCC held them to 155 for 9 in their quota of 30 overs.
Th Anand showed his all-round ability in this innings as he picked up three crucial wickets to become the man of the match while Ch Ranjan, L Dipu and Th Santosh fetched two wickets each.
Elsewhere, in a group B league match played at Oriental College playground, YUCC posted an emphatic 8 wicket win against KIYC to open up their winning account.
KIYC, which won the toss and elected to bat first, bundled out at 74 runs in 14.5 overs and YUCC chased down the target for the loss of two wickets in 13.5 overs.
Kouser topscored for KIYC on 22 not out as Dibak (4 for 5 in 2 overs ) and Rahul (3 for 24 in 3 overs) of YUCC ran through their batting line up.
N Sanjit and Arbin of YUCC also earned two wickets each in this innings.
N Thoiba topscored for YUCC (14) before L Bidyashwor (11) and Rohit (10) finished the chase in 13.5 overs.
Naorem Dibak was eventually named the man of the match.
