PWF vows Rs 1 lakh to AMWJU Covid Fund, disburses aid

Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), a charitable trust set up by All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), has decided to donate Rs 1 lakh to AMWJU's Covid Relief Fund.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation held on Thursday.
Acording to PWF secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, the meeting conducted via online mode also approved the recommendations of its Medical Board that fixed the total amount of Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) for five beneficiaries to Rs 1,75,000 .
With the end of the MFA Scheme for the year 2020-21, PWF further invited applications from bona fide, past and present journalists to apply for assistance for Phase-1 of the Scheme for the year 2021-22, eligible for treatment expenses incurred in between April 1, 2021 to September 31, 2021 .
PWF mentioned that the five beneficiaries are Paojel reporter Angom Opendro Meetei, who suffered from Haematemesis as well as other ailments and was awarded Rs 75,000; Soraisham Dhaneshor Singh of Naharolgi Thoudang's, who received Rs 40,000 as assistance for the treatment expenses of his nominee (wife) suffering from Papillary Carcinoma Thyroid.
Poknapham reporter Thongam Premchand who underwent an appendicitis surgery was given Rs 25,000, while The People's Chronicle's Sanjay Wangjamcha, who had diabetic nephropathy and other ailments, was awarded Rs 20,000 .
Lastly Kangla Pao senior journalist Huidrom Netaji Singh who is diabetic and had tested Covid positive but has recovered now, was given Rs 15,000, the secretary informed, adding that the meeting was presided over by Trust's chairperson Wangkhemcha Shamjai and participated by N Tombiraj, Aribam Balkrishna Sharma, RK Nimai, Pradip Phanjoubam, Asem Bhakta, Elangbam Imocha, Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, K Sarojkumar Sharma, Kh Sharatchandra Sharma, Jit Ningomba, Meghajit and Bo-run Thokchom with AMWJU adhoc functionaries Bokuljao-ba Soubam and Jotin Khundrakpam as special invitees.
