Rs 25 cr spent on highways development

Manipur Government has spent Rs 25.61 crore till December 2014 against an allocation of Rs 30.00 crore for improving the conditions of National Highways.
The State spent Rs 0.70 crore and Rs 2.13 crore for periodic repairs and for highways damaged by floods, Manipur Legislative Assembly was informed on Wednesday by Governor Dr KK Paul in his speech on the opening day of the budget session.
Widening of road to 6-lane from Malom to Keishampat on NH-150 was being undertaken under the State Plan Fund.
Rs 12.30 crore was provided for the works taken up under Central Road Fund (CRF) during 2014-15 against which Rs 6.68 crore had been released by Ministry of Road Transport of which Rs 6.00 crore has been utilised.
Construction of road from Kangpokpi to Tamenglong (119.75 km) is reported to be in "good progress".
The physical progress of work from Tamei to Tamenglong is 75 percent and from Kangpokpi to Tamei is 55 percent.
The expenditure incurred for Tamenglong-Tamei is Rs 49.47 crore and for Kangpokpi-Tamei is Rs 10.11 crore, the House was informed by the Governor.
The work for improvement of Bishnupur-Nungba Road (Old Cachar Road/Tongjil Maril) has been awarded and maintenance work is being executed by the contractor.
The expenditure incurred is Rs 10.00 crore.
Construction of Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Dewlahland in Imphal having a provision of parking 105 buses at a time was approved for Rs 26.40 crore and the terminus is yet to be made operational.
Construction of Capital Complex under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) funding with the revised cost of Rs 688.25 crore was taken up against the original cost of Rs 317.54 crore, the Governor said.
Assembly and High Court Complexes were inaugurated and works for Civil Secretariat are in progress with 68 percent of work having been completed.
Expenditure of Rs 501.16 crore has been incurred so far.
ADC Complex at Pherzwal and Mini Secretariat Complexes at Bishnupur and Chandel districts have been inaugurated, the Governor's address further informed the House.
