Seminar on co-operative society held

A one day district level seminar on co-operative as one of the best means of socio-economic development of the country was held today at Samurou Awang Leikai Community Hall under the aegis of Manipur State Co-operative Union.
The seminar was sponsored by the National Cooperative Union of India.
President of Manipur State Cooperative Union L Tompishak attended the inaugural function of the seminar as the chief guest while M Shakhenbi Devi councilor Ward no 3 Samurou Nagar Panchayat was the functional president and Y Ningthemba DCO Imphal West, CEO MSCU was the guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, Tompishak said that the movement of co-operative society in the State needs to develop from the primary level to the level of an apex body.
Even though the State has about more than 5868 registered co-operative societies with five lakh members, the products from all these societies are yet to reach its highest standards.
He further said that the members need more training and skill development through such seminars.
He added that the co-operative societies need to join hands and work as one solid apex body in various fields.
Furthermore he said that the problem of unemployment could be easily solved if the co-operative societies work together.
It could be more than just a society for a group of people and could be a co-operative business enterprise.
Y Ningthemba said that the co-operative societies should be sincere in their works.
Bringing a work culture to the people through such societies would be a boon for the State, he added.
Every member of co-operative societies should know the benefits and should work for the development of their respective society and there could be inclusive growth in socio-economic development of the country.
Retd Dy RCS L Ibomcha and K Chandra presented papers on various benefits of working in a co-operative society as resource persons while DCO of Bishnupur district Kh Tomba was the moderator of the technical session of the seminar.
