Pettigrew students demand regular class

Pettigrew College students have demanded regular classes for the students and stationing of lecturers at Ukhrul, reports Mungchan Zimik.
The students expressed resentment over the prolonged absence of some teachers in the college.
'Not a single class was conducted for some subjects after the re-opening of new academic session 2015 because there was no teacher to take the class,' a student rued while adding 'no one looks into our grievances' .
Although 40 lecturers are posted, only a few attend the college regularly and making matters worse classes were not conducted because AMCTA stir.
General secretary of Pettigrew College Students' Union, AS Tuishang said that students are now fed up with this prevailing culture of teachers absenteeism.
The Students' Union urged for immediate resumption of normal classes without further delay in the wider interest of the students besides stationing of lecturers at Ukhrul.
They also warned of launching a series of agitation unless their demands are met.
