The one-month long Samkrashan Samat Mahautsav Saksham-2019 (Capacity building for petroleum conservation) which began throughout the country under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gases, also kicked off for Manipur at Classic Grande by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and IOCL State level coordinator today.
The launch of the awareness campaign which will conclude on February 15, was participated by a large number of students from various school and as a part of the event, CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam flagged off a student rally.
As a part of the awareness campaign, the students at various schools, colleges and other educational institutes will be taught on how to conserve oil and natural gases.
Many industries, particularly the automobile sectors will be provided necessary training as well.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Karam Shyam said that oil and natural gases take a long time to form and they are finite resources as well.
He continued that India is the 3rd most consuming country in the world and added that even though oil and natural gases are indispensable, they are also a prime source of environmental, pollution.
It is necessary for all to come together and develop the society and the youth also play a huge role in bringing positive changes to the society, he added.
The Minister then urged the students not to resort to unnecessary competition with their peers other than on positive paths.
He also announced that the State Government will construct a cycle only track in Greater Imphal as well.
IOCL Coordinator Sinam Ibungoton, Principal Secretary Textile-Commerce and Industries P Vaiphei and Bharat Vikas Parishad National Vice President Prof Sinam Rajendra attended the event as the presidium members.
