Imphal, April 11 2012:
On the occasion of '13th April: Martyrs' Day' the banned revolutionary outfit RPF, has saluted all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the fight for a sovereign Manipur as well as those spending their remaining lives in infirmity.
Giving a short history on the significance of April 13 observance, RPF, in a statement, said that the outfit has been observing the day as Martyrs' Day since 1990 along with erecting a Cenotaph at Cheiraoching, to commemorate a fateful incident in the history of RPF's revolution.
Even today, RPF is following the footpath of the forefathers who told that it was better to die by living a day as a free man instead of spending 100 years as a slave.
Ever since Manipur was merged forcefully into the Indian Union, lives of the people of the state became a hell.
If people of the state want to live a problem free life, free from suppression and rights violation, it is necessary for Manipur to become a sovereign country rather than living under the oppression of the Indian Union.
In order to achieve this goal and set Manipur free, RPF would relentlessly continue its revolutionary war against the India government, the statement said.
Behind the figure of the world's largest democracy, India is oppressing its people with communal biasness and by imposing many inhumane laws like AFSPA.
However, the statement alleged, and added that RPF along with other like minded revolutionary organisations would continue it fight for a free Manipur till the goal is achieved and would not compromise its goal with anything else in the world.
While appealing to the people of the state to come forward and participate in paying tribute to the martyrs at Cheiraoching, RPF also urged the people to light up a torch at their respective gates in evening to show solidarity to the ongoing revolutionary movement.
The outfit also appealed to the people to refrain from organizing any types of festivities on the day.
However, religious events would be exempted, it added.
