Amid this, AICC is yet to name president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) following the resignation of Govindas Konthoujam from the post of president.
According to a report, Bhakta Charan Das will be staying in Imphal till July 26 to discuss with the state party leaders including block and district level leaders on the matter of the new president, a frontal for strengthening the party and the overall political scenario of the state.
The report further stated that the party in-charge firmly believes of a possible huge political change in the state with the impending final judgment in the disqualification case 12 MLAs over their appointment as parliamentary secretaries, which is to be announced on July 26 .
"The High Court of Manipur had already invalidated the appointment of parliamentary secretaries by the state government and the Governor of Manipur had also sought the opinion of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in this regard.
ECI had responded promptly to the query but the Governor continued to suppress the matter for a long time, thereby forcing MPCC to approach the Supreme Court", it added.
Mention may be made here that AICC incharge Bhakta Charan Das expressed belief that the Supreme Court will give its judgment in the parliamentary secretary case on July 26 .
The judgment will decide the fate of the BJO government, he said, while adding that if a new government is to be formed, Congress will be the one to form the government.
Meanwhile, following the resignation of MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam from the president's post, MPCC had submitted the names of five potential candidates to AICC.
It is believed that of the five names, one will be selected as president, while the remaining will be named as working presidents.
