Kangpokpi, July 23 2021:
"When many countries are seeking vaccination with the costly Covishield as it is considered one of the efficacious vaccines in the world so far, our Prime Minister has been providing us the same at free of cost.
So, get vaccinated today before it becomes very hard to find the vaccine even with money," said Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
The MLA was speaking during an awareness campaign on Covishield vaccination held at Tumnoupokpi village in Kangpokpi AC on Friday.
Nemcha, highlighting the necessity and importance of vaccination, said that "vaccine is the only tool we have to overcome the dreaded COVID-19" and appealed to the people of the Tumnoupokpi area not to hesitate from getting vaccinated when it is being provided free of cost as a gift from the Prime Minister.
"We are fortunate to have a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi who wants to save his people at any cost during this health crisis by providing the costly vaccine free of cost for millions of people in the country, especially the northeast people", the MLA said, adding that time will come when people will run after the vaccine but it will be very hard to find it even with money.
"Get vaccinated on time rather than wasting time on believing and indulging in unnecessary debate over fake news and rumours spreading on various social media platforms as it will not only kill our precious time but even our lives", the MLA cautioned.
While making her intention clear during the vaccination drive, Nemcha said that her extensive visit to the vaccination site has nothing to with her political career and she had no intention of gaining political mileage.
She said that she strongly believes that service to mankind is service to God and her sole intention in visiting each vaccination site is to save people's lives for they had elected her as their representative and she felt it is her duty to take care of their wellbeing.
The MLA apart from initiating the advocacy programme in collaboration with the medical department and providing necessary resources, appreciated the village authority of Tumnoupokpi, the medical team and the COVID Task Force concerned for their tireless service towards the people.
Dr J Touthang, district immunization officer, Dr Paotinlal Haokip, medical superintendent district hospital Kangpokpi, and Dr Pilhing, MO PHC Kalapahar, attended the advocacy programme as resource persons.
Livingson, secretary Tumnoupokpi Village Authority, expressed heartfelt gratitude to MLA Nemcha Kipgen for her commitment and dedication towards her people and her tireless efforts to save the people of her constituency from the dreaded pandemic.
Meanwhile, the MLA visited another mass vaccination drive conducted at Yaikongpao village and provided protective gear to the COVID Task Force Yaikongpao-Tumnoupokpi while interacting with the village leaders to put in more effort so that the village could be fully vaccinated.
According to CTF Yaikongpao-Tumnoupokpi chairman, John Thangal, 99 per cent of the population has already been vaccinated, adding that after one more vaccination drive the village would be fully vaccinated and officially declared soon.
