One day State Mourning was observed at all government offices and educational institution today as a mark of respect to the memory of Elangbam Kunjeswar, Deputy Chairman of the state Planning Board, who passed away on Thursday in New Delhi.
National Flag was flown at half-mast and no official entertainment was held today.
At the same time, Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat has expressed heartfelt sorrow at the sudden demise of MLA Elangbam Kujeswar.
In a condolence message to the bereaved family, the Governor recalls the contributions made by Kunjeswar during his life time as a bureaucrat, sports administrator, culture activist, and as a politician.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has also condoled the sudden demise of sitting MLA of Yaiskul AC and Vice-Chairman of State Planning Board, Elangbam Kunjeswar, who passed away on Thursday at a hospital in New Delhi.
The CM stated that his demise will cause a void which would be hard to fill in times to come.
Ibobi also shared the grief of the people of Yaiskul Assembly constituency while also praying for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Expressing grieves and sorrow over the untimely demise of MLA Kunjeswar, Thangso Baite, MP (Lok Sabha) remembers him as an efficient IAS Officer and a distinguished legislator with great vision and integrity.
The MP noted that the untimely demise of Kunjeswar is a great loss for the people of the state while also praying for his soul to rest in peace.
Manipur State Council of the Communist Party of India (CPI), in its emergency meeting held yesterday, observed two minutes silence to condole the demise of Elangbam Kunjeswar.
A statement issued by the party secretariat member B Sharma conveyed that the party also shared the grief of the family members.
Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti, Kabo Leikai, BJP Yaiskul Mandal, Manipur Loumi Lup, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, and Young Voluntary Organisation (YVO), Wangkhei Pujah Lampak have also condoled the demise of Elangbam Kunjeswar.
