Father of the L Satish who was allegedly in fake encounter by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles on May 18 has filed a writ petition to Gauhati High Court seeking a compensation amount of Rs 98.40 lakh for killing his son.
L Satish alias Tomba son of L Sharat of Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal, mention may be made, was killed by the combined force on May 18 after he was allegedly picked up with one of his local friends P Gunindro from near Shajiwa Jail road at Laikot Ching under Lamlai police station.
L Sharat, the father of the deceased Satish filed the writ petition to the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench with Union home secretary, commissioner (home) of Manipur government, state DGP, Imphal east district SP, OCs of Lamlai and Heingang Police Station as respondent of the petition.
Admitting the petition, a division bench of the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench comprising Justice T Nandakumar and Justice K Meruno today issued show cause notice to the respondents, returnable within four week time.
Sharat filed the petition with Khaidem Mani as counsel and assisted by advocate Heihoubam Rakesh, advocate Ph Dolen, advocate Y Debadutta and advocate Sanajaoba in the form of civil writ petitioner.
During hearing of the petition, court observed that Satish was abducted by some unknown persons in civil dress on May 16 from near the Shajiwa jail on his way with his local friend Gunindro.
P Gunindro was handed over to Lamlai police station while Satish was killed at about 6.15 am of May 18 this year by a combined force of 23 Assam Rifles and Thoubal Police Commandos.
In the writ petition, the petitioner prayed the court for directing authority concerns for making inquiry into the incident, booking the security personnel involved in the killing and payment of compensate an amount of Rs 98.40 lakh to the family of the deceased Satish.
