Imphal, August 07 2018:
CPI (M) State Secretary Laishram Sotinkumar has condemned the apparent lack of interest by the BJP led State Government regarding the ongoing impasse at Manipur University which began from May 30.Speaking to media persons at Irawat Bhawan today, Sotinkumar said that if the State Government had acted in time, the issue would not have lasted for such a long time.
He alleged that the rally which came to Manipur University yesterday was aimed to mislead the protest by the students and teachers to remove VC AP Pandey and condemned the act.
On the other hand, he questioned how Pandey, who was supposedly given leave, is present as the chairman of a UGC team which visited ST Joseph College, Jakhama, Nagaland on August 5.Demanding the State Government to solve the university issue at the earliest, Sotinkumar informed that the State is already surrounded by a large number of issues, apart from the university matter.
Accusing the State Government of being unfazed by the possibility of extension of Article 371 A in Manipur, he alleged that the BJP Government does not even want to conduct a meeting with other political parties concerning issues like the Border Pillar 84 issue as well as the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2018 issue.
Calling the BJP led State Government a failure, Sotinkumar assured that CPI (M) along with various other political parties will begin taking up necessary steps for the welfare of the people.
