4100 eco clubs set up in State: MPCB Chairman

District Implementation and Montioring Committee (DIMC) Imphal West, Manipur Pollution Control Board, Zonal Education Officer Zone I organised a one day training program cum distribution of cheque and dustbin for eco-club schools of Imphal West district today at ZEO office zone I office in Khoyathong.
MPCB Chairman Laishram Radhakishore, while speaking on the occasion, stated that the initiatives taken up by eco clubs in the State is quite commendable.
He stated that 1.20 lakh eco clubs have been set up all across the country while 4100 eco clubs are opened in Manipur till date.
Eco clubs raise awareness at different school on how to keep an environment neat and clean, he added.
Radhakishore stressed on the importance of instilling the idea of protecting and sustaining the ecosystem among the school going children.
Underlining that youth plays the most crucial role in balancing the eco system, he appealed that students to utilize the cheque and dustbins distributed today.
He conveyed that students can approach MPCB to gather any variety of tree saplings.
A training session for teachers was also conducted by the board.
