UI-12 AITA Championship Series : Nandini Laishram goes down to Sohini Sanjay in semi-final

Nandini Laishram crashed out of the U-12 AITA Championship Series after a humiliating 0-6, 0-6 defeat to Sohini Sanjay Mohanty of Odisha in the girls' singles semi-final.
The championship is being organised by Manipur Tennis Association under the aegis of the All India Tennis Association at Officers' Club's Deco Turf Tennis Court, Lamphel.
Nandini Laishram reached the semi-final by beating Odisha's Aaradhiya Verma 6-3, 6-1 in the quarter final while Sohini Sanjay Mohanty sealed a comfortable 6-2, 6-4 win over Devashri Gautam in another quarter final and sealed the semi-final berth.
In other quarter final clashes, Manipur's Y Thoibi beat Assam's Rimi Tai 7-5, 7-5 while Adrika Rajkumari of Assam squeezed out a 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 win over Manipur's Sanareima Ningthemcha.
Boys' singles competition
The semi-final line up of the boys' singles competition completed today and two local lads are in the contention for the final berth.
Ashwajit Senjam beat Karnataka's Gavin Wahengbam 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 10-6 in the quarter final to set up semi-final clash with Neeraj Thokchom, who saw off Ved Aditya Kalita of Assam 6-0, 6-0 in another quarter final match.
Manipur's Shankar Heishnam outlasted Aryan Borah of Assam 6-2, 6-3 in the quarter final to set up last 4 round clash with Antarikh Tamuly of Assam who overcame Rajivkumar Thongbam of Manipur 6-2, 6-1 in another quarter final match.
Boys' doubles competition
Crystal Sarkar and Twuilang Deb Burma of Tripura sealed a 7-6 (7), 4-6, 10-6 win over Antarikh Tamuly and VA Kalita of Assam in the first round clash of the boys' doubles competition to move into the quarter final round.
Assam's A E Ahmed and Jisnwanga Baruah advanced into the quarter final round of the competition outlasting Dhandeep Mili and Chandogya T Pathak of the same State, 6-2, 6-4 in the first round while another pair from Assam, Prasuriya Borah and Riyan Kashyap got better of Chirandeep Mazumdar of West Bengal and Shohan Keishan of Manipur 6-3, 6-0 in another match to advance into quarter final.
Tamil Nadu's Omkrishna Rai and Deva Darshan dumped the pair of Jyotishman Boro and Shriyansh Kumar Sahani 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to book the quarter final berth.
