Imphal, November 16 2011:
Congress is all set to destroy the territorial integrity of the state by offering "Supra-state Body" to the Nagas, charged BJP.
Addressing media persons at a press conference held at the office of BJP, Manipur Pradesh, Imphal, party President Shantikumar Sharma said that the proposal of the Union government to grant a Supra State body to the Nagas as a Christmas gift, in consonance with the long demand of the NSCN (IM) for greater Nagaland, is just a change in the name of the NSCN (IM)'s demand.
It is actually complying with the demand of NSCN (IM) of Greater Nagaland.
In reality the term "Supra State" means "beyond Boundary" .
The people of the state could be easily offended by it.
It was in the year 1949 that the congress forcibly merged Manipur to the Indian Union and snatched away the freedom of Manipur.
Home Minister P Chidambaram came to Manipur during the economic blockade and visited Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul in a chopper.
He neither had the time nor the intention to comment on the economic blockade and the problems it created for the people, he said.
It is very unfortunate that during the visit the Union Home Minister did not try to bother anything about the suffering meted out to the public by the indefinite economic blockade on national highways and since his visit to the state, the Supra-State Body has surfaced, he added.
The Union Home Minister, the Chief Minister and the UNC had a closed door meeting at Senapati where even the media were prohibited to enter.
At this juncture it is surprising when the Chief Minister O Ibobi said he knew nothing of the "Supra State".
It also very astonishing as to why the Chief Minister didn't utter a word when he was given a cold welcome with the banner "Not welcome communal government of Manipur" at Senapati.
A white paper should be furnished about the 23 minute long closed door meeting, he demanded.
He further went on to blame the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government of Manipur for not willing to invite political parties or civil society organizations for discussion to settle issues in the state, particularly the issue of the ongoing economic blockade.
He said that the Chief Minister of Manipur should convey on the Union government the people of the state is against the "Supra State", or else there might be unwanted incidents turning up in the state, and, if at all, it does, then the congress should be held responsible.
The BJP is quite doubtful as to whether there is collusion among the three Congress-ruled governments of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, states which are to be affected by the Supra State Body if granted, have reached an understanding on the proposal, he alleged.
Professor Tiken, Vice President BJP Manipur unit, said that the NSCN (IM) is not the competent authority on the issue of the Naga integration.
There are even sections of society in Nagaland who are against the NSCN (IM).
There is various other armed rebellion of Nagas apart from the NSCN (IM).
In Manipur one Zeliangrong outfit has been clashing with the NSCN (IM).
The Union government should not consider the NSCN (IM) as the sole representatives of the Nagas.
He further went on to say that the proposed Supra State Body is a big joke played by the government of India to the Northeastern region as well as to the NSCN-IM.
