Imposing bandh/blockade is self-torture: Gaikhangam

A seven-day training programme for Seva Dal volunteers of north-eastern states was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and MPCC President Gaikhangam at Retreat House, Mantripukhri here today.
More than 100 Seval Dal volunteers from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are taking part in the training programme organized by Manipur Pradesh Congress Seva Dal.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that Seval Dal is the symbol of peace, integrity and discipline for the Congress Party.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Seva Dal is elated to host the training programme of Northeast Zonal Congress Seva Dal, he maintained.
India is an emerging superpower and everyone must toil to make significant contribution to the country.
The people of Northeast should also render utmost help and support to implement various schemes and programmes of the Central government successfully, Gaikhangam exhorted.
He further said that imposing bandhs and blockades is akin to self-torture.
Nothing good can be achieved out of such undemocratic and anti-people agitations.
People should propagate peace and harmony in the region, the Deputy Chief Minister averred.
The inaugural function was also attended by Northeast in-charge of All India Congress Seva Dal AA Gurung and office bearers of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and Manipur Pradesh Congress Deva Dal.
