Lamka, June 12 2014:
BRTF suspended 17 labourers employed for working along the road of Indo-Myanmar border village at Hiangtam (V) village under Singhat Sub-division of Churachandpur after the front-side window of a JCB kept at the outskirt was found broken, stated Zou Students' Association, while adding that the suspended labourers who have been working under BRTF for the past 2 years included three/four women.
Decrying BRTF for making false accusations on the labourers, Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi ( Zou Students' Association) President Nengchinlam recalled that a meeting for resolving the issue was fixed on May 17 last at Hiangtam (V) village, but BRTF officials failed to turn up.
"This shows the lackadaisical social attitude of BRTF which always hampered the progress of the works, and the discriminatory attitude of the officials goes a long way in creating division", he asserted.
As the Jr.
Engineer of BRTF Rabi forcefully made the labourers to pay a fine Rs.1010 ( Rupees One thousand and ten) per labourer, ZSP general headquarter met the Jr.
Engineer and brought an amicable solution.
Taking a dig at BRTF officials, ZSP alleged that even after 2 months, the BRTF has not taken any action against the said Jr Engineer.
It further appealed to the higher authority to look into the matter and maintain status quo, else the Association should not be held responsible for any untoward incident.
