Imphal, February 09 2022:
While stating that BJP will get a clean victory in the ensuing polls and form the government, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that the party will never stay under the rule of another party.
Speaking to media persons after attending an "Intellectual Meet on Union Budget-2022" held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC here on Wednesday, Himanta remarked that NPP, as a part of NEDA, is governing the state of Meghalaya.
However, it is contesting the polls in Manipur in a different way.
Contending that BJP will get absolute majority in the upcoming polls and form the new state government, he further said that the party will take the lead in the polls.
The party does not want to discuss other parties with regard to the elections and as such, urged for holding discussion of matters concerning BJP only, he added.
Regarding the Intellectual Meet, Himanta said that the union budget-2022 focuses on the north east states and there are provisions for development of villages in border areas under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East (PM-DevINE) scheme.
Although timber is easily available in the state, the focus is on uplift of agro-forest, promotion of forest products and generating employment opportunities for the youth, he said.
He then highlighted the achievements of the BJP government in Manipur over the years, particularly during the pandemic and also the implementation of lLPS.
Manipur Election in-charge Sambit Patra, who also spoke to media persons, recounted that prior to 2014, the north-eastern states were almost non-existent during the time of the Congress-led government.
However, the region is slowing becoming a new engine under the PM Modi-led BJP government.
Thus, it is believed that a Lotus government will again be formed in the state, he said.
The meet was also attended by Manipur Election in-charge Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik and BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda as the presidium members.
