Tamenglong, January 30, 2011:
Resolving the Indo-Naga issue without due recognition of the Naga political and historical realities is a sure way to failure.
"Solution reached at the expense of the Naga political and historical realities will lead both the parties back to square one," the NSCN/GPRN, MIP said through an email press released.
NSCN/GPRN was responding to what it termed, "their (India's) carrot and stick policy" of according "warm hero welcome" to the collective leadership of the group while "their subordinate leaders and officers are deliberately branded as criminals".
This is in reference to the arrest and interrogation of Koningam, a Deputy Kilonser and Maj.
Gen.
Ningkhan Shimray by India's armed forces and investigating agencies.
NSCN/GPRN claimed that these two men were on their way to Delhi for political talks.
It questioned as to "how and what kind of steps are going to be taken" by the Government of India to take forward the ongoing peace process.
This is the focal point, the MIP said.
"We are afraid that indecisiveness in the talks [by India] will create more commotion, turmoil and breach of trust between the two parties," the statement read.
It recalled the "NSCN and GOI as two entities, entered into a cease-fire agreement in 1997 for political dialogue in third countries".
"But talks in Delhi were held only when our collective leadership were invited by the GOI," it claimed.
Chairman Swu had come to Delhi again on the invitation of Indian Government to take concrete steps, it further said.
Meanwhile, the NSCN/GPRN appreciated the initiatives New Delhi took in making Chairman Swu's trip to India possible despite some "hurdles'.
The NSCN/GPRN said that despite "all these apprehensions, the Naga people hope and trust that GOI with utmost sincerity and strong political will take positive steps in the coming round of talks." The situation in Nagalim is being watched by the whole world", it added.
